Wretched Respite

Feeling lost
and alone
No matter here
or at home

Can’t stand touch
desire embrace
Loneliness a painted face

I can’t see far
I can’t taste faith
Everything is laid to waste

Itching bones and
tender feet
I feel the pull into the deep

One last gasp
of rancid air
before I’m swallowed
whole by fear
